Yes, my maid has runaway.
And my parents’ maid has runaway too.
These 2 cases happened 1 month apart and from our own investigation, we think these cases are not related.

What should the “majikan” do?

  1. Make a police report.
  2. Declare with Immigration Office through maid agency, cost RM300. (RM250 is compound, RM50 is agent fee).

Note for making police report.

  1. If the maid just runaway without stealing anything (or just something you can bear with), then just make the police report short, simple and straight forward.
  2. Should tell police that the maid is gone with all her belongings. I had tried to tell the police my maid has just walk away with her mobile phone, and leave all clothes behind. Then the police “remind” me that my report could be a kidnap or missing people case. So, just keep it simple.
  3. The police report is only complete if you have paid RM2 to buy the “receipt”. Do communicate with police officer to find out the most convenient way to get it. It is not available during non “office hour” (though police station is open 24 hour), and it is not available at pondok, sub station, or community station (those converted shop-lots)

What if “majikan” do nothing?

Well, I cannot answer this question with 100% confident, because I already “do something”.

According to my maid agency, if I do nothing, then I might get into trouble if the runaway maid has get into trouble. The maid agency also said, I might have problem in the process that getting replacement maid.

Zoo Melaka Welcome Signage

Recently (July-2013), I have brought my to Zoo Melaka for the first time. My first impression after my last visit with my parents and siblings many years ago is the zoo have not changed and full of nature wear and tear. In the other words, the zoo is quite rundown, but in good maintenance.

The following is some information about Zoo Melaka.

  • Zoo Melaka is founded in year 1963 as wildlife rescue centre, and open to public in year 1987.
  • Zoo Melaka is a 54-acre (22 ha) zoological park, the second-largest zoo in Malaysia behind the National Zoo of Malaysia (Zoo Negara).
  • Highest visitors (619,194) of Zoo Melaka is recorded in year 2007, along with the “Visit Malaysia” campaign.
  • According to Wikipedia, the zoo should have approximately total of 1200 and 215 species of animals.
  • Zoo Melaka official website is down for maintenance (Anyway, the link is http://www.www.zoomelaka.gov.my) Continue reading

Dato' Sri Idris Jala, Minister of Prime Minister Department
Dato’ Sri Idris Jala, Minister of Prime Minister Department

Everyone in the country started to talk about GST (Government Sales Tax) after Dato’ Sri Idris Jala, the Minister in Prime Minister Department (Chief Executive of Service and Performance Management Unit) said GST is necessary for government to move forward. The figure that being mention is not 4% or 5% that being mentioned on-and-off in pass 15 years, but it is 7%.

Base of his estimation, government will gain as much as RM27 billions after the GST is launched.

This unfavorable news has already become a bullet by opposition parties. Opposition parties are criticizing that this tax is not necessary if government has strong determination to fight corruption.

However, being a potential GST payer (or rather a victim), I have less worry.
